New drug targets for lethal brain cancer discovered

LONDON: Researchers have discovered more than 200 genes with novel and known roles in glioblastoma - the most aggressive type of brain cancer that offer promising new drug targets.
Researchers from the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Addenbrooke's Hospital and their collaborators engineered a new mouse model to show for the first time how a mutation in the well-known cancer gene, EGFR initiates glioblastoma and works with a selection from more than 200 other genes to drive cancer. ,The results, published today in Genome Biology present the first mouse model of its kind, which is available for the research community to advance new treatments for this lethal form of brain cancer. ,Glioblastoma is an aggressive form of brain cancer. Spiritual Prescription: Yoga, the Greatest Healer

The Sanskrit word for ‘healthy’ is ‘Svastha’ - Sav-Stha - means being established in one’s own true self. This is only possible when the body is in union with the mind and the consciousness. ,The Bhagavad Gita (Ch. IV shloka 36), says Api chedasi papebhya sarvebhya pap kritama or in other words “even if thou are the sinner of all sinners, you shall cross over all sin by the raft of knowledge”. Here sin can be equated with physical or mental sickness. ,Again, in shloka 37, Krishna says “Gyanagni sarva karmani bhasmasat kurute tatha”. In other words, “as fire reduces fuel to ashes, the fire of knowledge reduces all karma to ashes”. ,In shloka 38, Krishna said “Na hi gyanena sa drisham pavitram ih vidyate” or in other words “there is no greater purifier than knowledge. Donald Trump praises doctor who claimed ‘alien DNA’ is used in treatments. Here is how netizens reacted
The Indian Express

The US President Donald Trump has stirred controversy again after he retweeted a viral video and voiced support for a doctor who reportedly praised hydroxychloroquine as a miracle coronavirus cure and claimed alien DNA was used in medical treatments. ,The clip, which now has been removed from the microblogging website, featured a group of people who claimed to be “America’s Frontline Doctors” and stated that neither masks nor lockdowns were required to fight the ongoing pandemic. ,According to the Washington Post, the video was live-streamed on media outlet Breitbart and was viewed over 14 million times. The clip received more attention after it was re-shared by Donald Trump Jr. and by President Trump.

New Delhi: A video of a doctor from Houston in the US arguing for the use of hydroxychloroquine or HCQ to cure the novel coronavirus and dismissing the importance of masks and lockdowns as “unnecessary” has gone viral, with US President Donald Trump retweeting it. ,“Nobody needs to get sick. This virus has a cure — it is called hydroxychloroquine,” Stella Immanuel said in the video that garnered millions of views on Facebook Monday alone. ,While the anti-malaria drug HCQ was a contender as a cure for Covid-19 due to its antiviral properties in the early days of the pandemic, it’s effectiveness has since been rubbished by scientists with many clinical trials finding no benefit and “leading national health authorities have moved to restrict its use because of potential cardiac harm”.
